Architecture Omi
Installed June 14, 2014 at Omi International Arts Center, Ghent, N.Y.
X-POD 138 is a self-shaped pod-like form and is an architectural minimum. Architecture requires a minimum of 3 genes, one for space, one for surface (or mass), and one for opening. Take away any one of these three, we are left with hypo-architecture (“less than”). X-POD138, exemplifying minimum architecture, has one space, one surface and one opening. This installation at Architecture Omi is the first architectural experiment using our (Milgo-Lalvani) proprietary rapid-forming method for making 3-dimensional structures by expanding single sheets (metal, in this instance).
X-POD is a companion to the X-TOWER installed concurrently at The Fiels at the Omi International Arts Center.
